Welcome!
River Farm is home to a multi-generational farming family with a deep connection to the land. Established in 2000, our farm sits alongside the historic Oaken Brow Plantation, weaving together a rich Virginia history that stretches back to 1830. For over two decades, we've cultivated this land, embracing the beauty and bounty of life on the Rappahannock River. Out of this experience, the vision of a destination farm brewery was born.
In a picturesque, wooded corner of the farm, we repurposed reclaimed timber from across the property to build our taproom, with the goal of creating a space that embodies the rustic charm of the land. A standout feature of the brewery is "Big Red," an original Fitz water wheel that washed ashore on the Rappahannock after Hurricane Agnes in 1972. Now restored, it proudly serves as the centerpiece of our brewery.
Our expansive outdoor setting offers a relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere with acres of courtyards and shaded areas to explore. Guests can also enjoy meeting our playful Nigerian dwarf goats, a favorite among visitors of all ages and a beloved part of the farm experience.
On-site, our passionate brewer Matt Butler crafts each batch of beer with expertise and care, blending fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create an exceptional range of brews. Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just seeking a peaceful place to unwind, we invite you to relax, enjoy a pint, and stay awhile at Creekside.
